On 24 March 2023, the CEN General Assembly approved the application of SON (the Standards Organisation of Nigeria) to become a CEN Companion Standardization Body (CSB).

On Thursday 22 September 2022, on the occasion of the ISO General Meeting in Abu Dhabi, CEN and CENELEC signed a Cooperation Agreement with SAC, the Standardization Administration of China. 

Standards is one of the main elements that were discussed at the Trade and Technology Council between the EU and the US that took place in Pittsburgh last 29 September. 

The European Project SESEI (Seconded European Standardization Expert in India) is one of the most important dialogue projects on standards, established by the three European Standards Organizations, the European Commission and EFTA.

The Africa-Europe Science and Innovation Summit, organized by AERAP (the African-European Science Collaboration Astronomy Platform), will be held virtually from June 14 to June 18, 2021.  Within the content of this Summit, CEN and CENELEC, two of the official European Standardization Organizations, will present the dedicated session “Standards - Supporting innovation in Africa - How do standards foster innovation and economic prosperity?” on 17 June.

On 15 February 2021, CEN and CENELEC will participate to the webinar “Africa Trading with Itself: Role of Standards and Technical Regulations in actualising Free Trade under the AfCFTA". The webinar, organised by ARSO – the African Organisation for Standardization, will highlight the various opportunities presented by the AfCFTA tools to address the existing Technical Barriers to Trade in Africa.
